Paper resources at Yale: The Economic Growth Center Collection (EGC), housed in the Social Science Library, is one of the oldest and most complete collections of primary statistics from around the globe in the U.S. Publications from India begin with 8S and can be browsed in the EGC stacks. The best way to find state-level information is to search in ORBIS by subject. Example: Bihar (India)--Economic conditions. While IndiaStat (see below) replaces many paper resources, some titles are purchased only in paper. One example is the expensive publications of the CMIE, Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy, the most recent are in the Reference collection (8S S471 I3 A34) others are on the 3rd floor of SSL.

Social Science Research
Although comprehensive business resources such as ABI Inform and Business Source Complete can be useful for some projects, other will need to delve into academic research in fields such as political science and sociology. The file entitled "Multi-database Searching" at the end of this section explains how to get started.
Unfortunately not all relevant databases are included in the Multi-database searching option. Of special note are: 1. The Social Science Research Network (SSRN), a database of international research papers. 2. Contemporary Women's Issues, and 3. Popline Citations/abstracts in the fields of family planning, population law and policy, and primary health care, including maternal/child health in developing countries. For further suggestions on where to look for information please see: Research Guides by Subject.
Other resources of note that cannot be searched simultaneously include Google Scholar, touted by Google as "a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature" and Scopus. an important complement to Social Science Citation Index.
